Event Photography Barcelona 2011 GSMA Congress in Barcelona Spain
Event photography is never as exciting as wedding photography, but being one of the official photographers for the biggest annual event for the mobile phone industry - the GSMA congress that takes place in Barcelona every year - was a mind-blowing experience. It was 5 hard days of work plus a few private dinners before the congress started.
The event took place at the magnificent building of the National Palace at Montjuic park. In the evening the fountains create a breathtaking performance of water and light. I used my conference pass to convince the reception of the nearby hotel to use their roof top to take some aerial shots of the venue which the organisers loved.
It was amazing to see all the latest technology of 3D mobiles and the highlight of the event was the opportunity to photograph the CEO of Google Eric Schmidt and the CEO of Ericsson Hans Vestberg. But I have to say that after 5 days of listening about mobile phones I was looking forward to do another wedding.
I definitely loved working in Barcelona. Not only because I could eat pan con tomate and olive oil every night 8 days in a row, but I could do a job at a dinner party and finish at 9.30pm and the night was just starting. The locals haven't even gone out for dinner. After I met with a few wedding planners in Barcelona I hope a comission for a destination wedding photography in Spain is not too far away.
